(Community Connect 2)
The towns of Jackson and Monroe were recipients of the Community Connect 2 grant award from the USDA. This project is anticipated to connect 500 locations with Gig/ Gig speeds. Currently in Phase 1, Project Launch.
Waldo and Penobscot Counties (Reach Me Project)
Direct Communications partnered with MCA to expand high-speed broadband in Waldo and Penobscot counties. A Reach Me Line Extension grant by the MCA will be utilized to expand fiber internet to the towns of Burnham, Dixmont, Newburgh, Thorndike, Troy, and Unity. This project is anticipated to connect all interested 1,100 homes with Gig/ Gig speeds. We are installing fiber to homes when customers call in or fill out the form below and request service. Currently in Phases 5 & 6, Home-side Splicing and Home Install Scheduling.
Brooks & Waldo (Connect the Ready)
Direct Communications has partnered with the towns of Brooks and Waldo to facilitate the construction of a high-speed fiber internet network with the help of an award from the Connect the Ready grant from the MCA. This project is anticipated to connect all interested 800+ homes with Gig/ Gig speeds. We are installing fiber to homes when customers call in or fill out the form below and request service. Currently in Phases 5 & 6, Home-side Splicing and Home Install Scheduling.
WBC Project: Liberty, Montville, Freedom, Palermo, and Searsmont
Direct Communications and the Waldo Broadband Corporation (“WBC”) comprised of five towns in Waldo County (Freedom, Montville, Liberty Palermo & Searsmont), formed a collaborative partnership to construct a fiber build in these towns. This project will reach an estimated 2,959 unserved and underserved locations. Currently in Phases 4 to 6, Neighborhood Installation to Home Install Scheduling.
4/1/26 – The town of Freedom is in stage 6 Home Install Scheduling.

9/8/26 – Construction is underway, we are waiting on approval before we can continue our construction across the railroad tracks in this project.
