“People who come to Pocatello usually don’t stay here because of things to do. With two major interstates intersecting through Pocatello travelers usually keep on going to the next major city.” Says Larry Fisher, founder and owner of the famed Black Swan Inn. However, he describes Pocatello as a gem.
Fisher opened the doors of the Black Swan Inn in 1997 starting out with only one room, the Cave Room, the city allowed Fisher to open each room as they finished it.
Today, guests can retreat to fourteen different themed rooms. To name a few one can experience the Mayan Rainforest, Atlantis Under the Sea, Jungle Falls, and The Sea Cave room.
“There are three reasons I built this hotel: it would be fun to build and a unique challenge, a good investment, and good for the community.”
“We try to be involved and support our community as best we can; and the community has been very supportive of us.” Proud of his community Fisher states, “If people only knew what there was to do here they would want to stop and stay an extra day.”

“Because of the internet, we can cater to people all over the world. We don’t have to be a major chain for people to find us.”
Maintaining its family-oriented values, the Black Swan Inn is just the escape that Pocatello needs. In a society where everything is moving so fast and is dependent upon the internet. It’s expected to have reliable fast internet. Fisher has tapped into Direct Communications more dependable fiber optic internet to achieve just that.
“Internet is critical. Everything is dependent on the internet. If the internet shuts down, we lose our phones, we lose our TV’s, and it just wouldn’t be a pretty picture.”
Larry has streamlined each room to now feature smart TV’s with a built in Roku. Therefore, guests have unlimited easy access to watch whatever they want. With each room, guests get a different experience. As they walk in, the TV is featuring a background to match the theme of the room with music to make the entire experience complete.
Having fast, reliable internet, community members and travelers alike can now experience all the hidden gems in Pocatello. Fisher states, “There is a lot that goes on here that people don’t know about. We try to help people know what’s going on here. Pocatello has a lot to offer that more people need to experience.”
